Friday's Foreign Travels (Manchester)

Currently watching: Young Apprentice

Good morning girls! How are you today? Are you ready for the weekend?

Today's Foreign Travels post sees us visiting Manchester, England, which is where I currently reside.

One thing you can definitely say about this city is that there is plenty of interesting architecture and art work to admire.

It's also home to beautiful cathedrals and churches.

Being in the north of England and at the heart of the industrial revolution, it's easy to assume Manchester will be grey and gloomy but this city really sparkles in the sunlight.

You never know what kind of innovative architecture you will glimpse next.

A fine example of this is the Hilton hotel, which is a prominent feature of the skyline.

But wherever you go, signs of the city's industrial past can still be seen.

Personally, my favourite areas of Manchester are around the canals and Salford Quays. I'd love to live in one of the apartments here.

Have you visited Manchester? Do you have any trips planned for this weekend?

Bye for now,
Laura

Friday's Foreign Travels (Blackpool)

Currently watching: Grey's Anatomy

Good morning girls! Sorry for the lack of posts this week. I haven't done any nice manicures but hopefully next week I should have time to make my nails all pretty again.

Since today is Friday, that means I'm once again giving you a glimpse of another place, this time it's Blackpool in England, home to the seaside, Pleasure Beach amusement park and fish and chips.

Blackpool Tower, a mini Eiffel Tower ;-)

Rollercoaster rides at the amusement park

Have you been to Blackpool? Are you a fan of amusement parks?

Friday's Foreign Travels (York, England)

Currently listening to: Unpretty by Glee

Good morning girls! How are you today? Do you have that Friday feeling??? I certainly do as I'm on holiday today :-) I'm going to York for a long weekend with my mum so although it will be a fairly relaxed weekend I'm sure it will be lots of fun too.

A while back I decided to do a weekly travel post, showing pictures of places I've visited in recent years, hearing about whether you too have visited these places and where you would like to go. Not a lot came of that idea, until now. Since I'm spending the weekend in York, I thought my first post could be on York as I visited this city in April and have lots of photos taken in the sunshine...

The shape of these houses from this angle caught my eye

Clifford's Tower, part of York Castle

The Shambles- a medieval street housing lots of boutiques and tearooms. Perfect for a spot of afternoon shopping followed by aternoon tea.

York Minster

Perfect weather for a stroll along the medieval ruins of the town wall

At the end of the day it was great to relax in the park

Have you been to York? Is it somewhere you'd like to visit?

Bye for now,
Laura

Friday's Foreign Travels (Wales)

Good morning girls,

I hope you are all well and looking forward to the weekend. Today I'd like to introduce a new feature, Friday's Foreign Travels, where I'll be posting photographs from my recent travels. Maybe I'll show your home city, somewhere you've visited, or somewhere you'd like to visit, or perhaps you'll be inspired to make an improptu getaway this weekend. Whatever the case, I hope you like this new feature and I look forward to reading your feedback :-)

This week, I'd like to start by showcasing Wales, a country which I visited during the Easter break. My trip started in Cardiff and ended in Llandudno with many stops along the way. Here are a selection of snaps from this wonderful country:

Have you been to Wales before? If so, which part of the country did you visit? If not, is it somewhere you'd like to go?

Bye for now,
Laura
