Taking a break with Barry M

Currently watching: Grey's Anatomy season 4

Hi girls,

It feels like ages since I last blogged and I suppose that's true since my most recent posts were actually written at the start of last week. Thanks for the comments on my photos; I'm so pleased that you enjoyed seeing my holiday snaps :-) I've finally finished choosing which photos I want to print from the ones I've taken during the last six months and the total comes to 1200. Which will cost £60. Plus £7 for each 200-picture photo album. £102. Ouch. So getting my photos developed in a big batch will just have to wait right now as I don't have that kind of money to spend on non-essentials.

Why? Because I'm moving from Edinburgh to Manchester to start my first proper job, my starting salary is low, and I have a lot of fixed expenses. As I mentioned in my scheduled posts, I was in Manchester last week to look for accommodation. What a nightmare. Where are all the affordable, one-bedroom, first floor flats with washing machines and off road parking hiding?

I start my job on 27th August and I am so stressed now, I dread to think what I'm going to be like nearer the time. Accommodation is problem number one. My job (I'll be a trainee accountant) involves driving so I need to buy a car. Problem number two. I passed my driving test six years ago but I've had very little driving practice since then. I've been out driving with my dad almost everyday since I returned from Poland but I'm not a confident driver. And if I'm having problems driving in the city I grew up in, how am I going to manage in the great unknown that is Greater Manchester?

So I'm supposed to be finding accommodation, building up driving experience, researching cars, researching satellite navigation systems, selling my flat in Glasgow, studying accountancy (my degree is in Economics and French so I have no idea what's in store for me), buying suitable work clothes, preparing for the big move in other words, but sometimes I need to take a break. If that means watching Grey's Anatomy and painting my nails then so be it. Ok let's take that break now and look at my NOTD:

This is my first Barry M nail polish (the shade is Mushroom) and now I see what all the hype is about. It was very easy to apply, needed only two coats, and looked glossy even without a top coat. I haven't tested its "staying power" but it didn't chip when I washed my hair in the shower so that's a good start!

What do you think? Is brown a colour you have in your nail polish collection?
Hopefully I'll be able to try some more of the Barry M range in future :-)
Bye for now,
Laura

PS Well done if you managed to read all the way down here, back to "cheerful" posts from now on, promise.

  2. I hope everything goes well for you. It sounds like a lot will be changing! Good luck though, I'm sure you'll get confident driving once you practice more often! :) I have the Mushroom and love the colour! Looks great on you, what a good way to relax :) xx

  3. I felt very elegant with this shade on. It's the first brown one I've tried but I have a new Essence one in my collection that's waiting to be tested now :-)

Thanks Olivia. Just have to keep my fingers crossed!
