Tuesday's Tea

Currently listening to: Secrets by One Republic

Hello girls!

I hope you are all well and had a good start to your week :-)

Today I'd like to share one of the dishes on my menu for tea this week. As my boyfriend is away this week, I'm cooking for one and eating whatever I like :-) For tonight's tea, I've chosen a chicken stir fry.

The first thing I did was cut two chicken breasts into small pieces and put them in a frying pan with a dash of oil.

While the chicken was cooking, I chopped up two carrots, one courgette, a few mushrooms, two peppers and an onion then added them to the pan.

I then added a vegetable stock cube and stirred while everything cooked to perfection :-)

The result: a healthy and delicious meal for my tea with enough left over for tomorrow's lunch.

Are you a fan of this dish? What are you having for tea tonight?

Bye for now,
Laura

Thursday's Treat - carrot and swede mash

Currently listening to: Higher Window by Josh Groban

Good morning ladies,

I hope this post finds you well :-)

Today I have a recipe to share with you for carrot and swede mash, yet another nutritious and delicious dish!

Ingredients:
carrots (number depends on desired quantity)
swede
1.5 pints of boiling water
vegetable stock cube
salt
milk
butter

Step 1: peel and chop carrots and swede

Step 2: Dissolve the stock cube in the pan of salted boiling water and add the vegetables. Bring to the boil then reduce the heat and allow vegetables to simmer fo 20 minutes

Step 3: Drain water, add some butter and milk and mash the vegetables

Step 4: Serve and enjoy!

This was the first time I'd tried this dish but it was so simple to make and really tasty too. I'm definitely going to make this a regular feature on my menu.

Is this something you would try?

Bye for now,
Laura

Friday's Food (Lentil, Carrot and Tomato Bake)

Currently listening to: Bells of New York City by Josh Groban

Hello ladies :-)

Today I'm off work so I went into town for a quick spot of shopping this morning. I do have a few purchases to show you but first I'd like to introduce something new to my blog, cooking recipes.

This recipe is for a lentil, carrot and tomato bake.

It's quick and easy to prepare and takes about 45mins to cook in the oven. Do you like the look of it? If so, read on to find out how to make this delicious meal :-)

Ingredients: lentils, carrots, one tin of chopped tomatoes, water, cheese, salt and herbs if desired

Step 1: Pour one cup of lentils and one cup of water into an ovenproof dish

Step 2: Add the tin of chopped tomatoes, mix so the lentils are covered and add salt/herbs if desired. Cover and put into the oven at approximately 180 degrees for 20 minutes

Step 3: Remove from oven, stir and add a layer of sliced raw carrots. Cover and place in oven for a further 20 minutes

Step 4: Remove from oven, add a sprinkle of grated cheese and put dish, uncovered, in the oven for a further five minutes

Step 5: Remove from oven, serve with vegetables and enjoy :-)

What do you think girls? Is this something you'd try? Have you tried a lentil bake before? Hope you enjoy it if you decide to make it!

Bye for now,
Laura

Konad 2

Before I start today's post, I just want to have a quick word about comments. I'm so thrilled that people are reading this blog and I'm delighted when you leave comments but I don't know if everybody who leaves a comment looks at the comment box again later on for a reply to what they've written. My method is to use my comment box to reply to comments left for me but in case you haven't read my latest comments, let me take the chance to say here how much I appreciate you following my blog and leaving comments. I've really been enjoying reading all of your blogs too and getting to know such fabulous people :-)

And now for today's update. This morning started with me accompanying my boyfriend to the hairdresser. Neither of us speak Polish so finding a reasonably-priced hairdresser who speaks English is always an adventure. I haven't had my hair cut here but this was David's second haircut and once again he found himself having to get his instructions translated to the hairdresser through someone else. It turned out okay though. While he was waiting to have his hair cut, I went to the chemist Rossman (similar to Boots) and picked up a new nail polish. I was tempted by Rimmel's Pop Rose but ended up with a similar shade of pink by Milo (which I think is a Polish brand) as it was around £2 cheaper. This colour is fantastic; I absolutely love it and I think it's a great match with white Konad images. So, without further ado, I present to you my first full Konad manicure:

What do you think? On some nails I messed up the placing of the stamp but overall I'm quite happy with it and I admired it a lot this afternoon, sneaking sly little looks at my nails when I was having coffee with a friend. I don't think it's too bad for a first attempt but I'm looking forward to practising and experimenting.

And finally, a picture of the delicious pain au chocolat David made this evening. The photo doesn't really do them justice but they were delicious.

Now we're going to watch De Battre Mon Coeur S'est Arrete. A perfect end to a lovely day.

Bye for now,
Laura
